Gala days are open competitions held on a saturday or sunday (called whistle stops on the Noirth Bank). They consist of teams of 2 or 3 players and are either 2 or 3 woods. Depending on the number of teams, the teams are usually split into 2 sessions. Each team usually play four games of around 8 ends (or 45 mins). If there are 2 sessions, the sessions alternate. Each win counts as 2 points. The winner is the one with the most points and if there is a tie, then total aggregate comes into play. Food and drink is provided at reasonable prices.
Below are some of the competitions I am aware of. These are NOT SDBL COMPETITIONS. They are run by clubs as fund raisers.
